Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) on Sunday sought to tamp down speculation she might run for president in 2016, reiterating that she fully supports the idea of former secretary of state Hillary Clinton running for president.
"I am on the bandwagon for Hillary Clinton in 2016," Gillibrand said on ABC's "This Week With George Stephanopoulos."
Gillibrand added that she has "personally encouraged" Clinton to run and thinks "she would be an extraordinary president." Clinton has not yet said whether she will make a bid.
Guest host Martha Raddatz showed Gillibrand a recent National Journal magazine cover with an Obama 2008-style image of her on it. While Gillibrand said she has no plans to run in 2016, she didn't disparage the photo.
"I think it's a nice picture. I like the picture," she said with a smile.
