Emily's List will endorse state Treasurer Gina Raimondo (D) in her bid for governor of Rhode Island, the group plans to announce later Thursday.

It will be the fifth 2014 gubernatorial endorsement for the group, which supports pro-abortion-rights candidates.

Raimondo, a rising Democratic star, announced her bid Wednesday, putting her on a collision course with another rising Democratic standout, Providence Mayor Angel Taveras, who launched his bid in October.

The eventual Democratic nominee will begin the general election as the heavy favorite to win the seat being vacated by Gov. Lincoln Chafee (D).
