Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) will deliver the tea party response to President Obama's State of the Union address next week, the Tea Party Express announced Tuesday.

The group has been offering a second GOP response of sorts in recent years. Past speakers include Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) and Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.).

"Senator Mike Lee has been both a tea party hero for supporters across the nation, and a conservative leader in the upper chamber," TPX Chairwoman Amy Kremer said in a statement. "He has introduced tangible policy solutions to some of America’s biggest problems. We are honored to have Sen. Lee deliver Tea Party Express’ fourth annual tea party response to the State of the Union address."

Lee's remarks will be streamed online after the official GOP response (they have also been carried live by cable news outlets in some cases). Republicans have not said who will deliver their response.

Obama will deliver the State of the Union on Jan. 28.
