Chamber of Commerce launching ad buy in Florida special election

The Chamber of Commerce is the latest Republican-aligned group to get involved in an increasingly pitched special election in Florida.

The Chamber has bought a little more than $200,000 worth of TV ad time in the Tampa-St. Petersburg media market for the special election for the late former congressman Bill Young's (R-Fla.) seat, according to two people familiar with the buy.

The ads are set to run Feb. 4-17.

In that March 11 election, former Young aide David Jolly (R) faces former state chief financial officer Alex Sink (D). The district is one of the most evenly drawn in the country and looks increasingly like it will be seen as an early measuring stick for the 2014 election.

On Thursday, a trio of GOP groups — American Crossroads, American Action Network and YG Network — announced they were spending $1.2 million on the race.

Sink has received some help from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and House Majority PAC, a Democratic super PAC.
