Jeb Bush touts David Jolly in Florida special election ad

February 4, 2014

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce released a new TV ad Tuesday featuring former Florida governor Jeb Bush (R) touting the congressional candidacy of Republican David Jolly, the latest commercial in an increasingly crowded battle on the airwaves in Florida's 13th district special election.

"Dave's the best candidate to go to Congress, fight wasteful spending and help create good jobs," Bush says in the ad.

The spot comes as Democratic and Republican interest groups have been spending big money in the purple district. The contest is seen by party strategists as potential harbinger of the November midterm elections.

The election in March 11. Jolly debated Democrat Alex Sink for the first time Monday. Libertarian Lucas Overby also participated.

A Democrat tracking ad buys in the race said the Chamber had spent $550,000 on air time. It was not immediately clear how much of that the group is spending on the Bush ad.
