First lady Michelle Obama on Monday tweeted her support for University of Missouri defensive lineman Michael Sam and his decision to come out as gay in advance of the NFL Draft.
You're an inspiration to all of us, @MikeSamFootball. We couldn't be prouder of your courage both on and off the field. -mo

The Obamas also celebrated former NBA star Jason Collins when he came out last year. He was Michelle Obama's guest at the State of the Union address last month.
Sam is a leading pro prospect as the AP's SEC co-defensive player of the year and an All-American. The NFL's scouting combine -- a key precursor to the draft -- begins in two weeks.
He tweeted in response to the first lady:
@FLOTUS Thank you for your kind words, humbled by your support.
