Former Arkansas governor and potential 2016 presidential candidate Mike Huckabee (R) will return to Iowa, the state that put him on the map in the 2008 race.

Huckabee is scheduled to attend an event hosted by the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition on April 8 in Waukee, Iowa, the group announced Tuesday.

Huckabee finished a surprising second in the 2007 Iowa Straw Poll and won the state's caucuses in the first contest of the 2008 race.

The 2008 runner-up, who has said publicly that he might run for president again, has also met with groups of supporters from Iowa and South Carolina in recent months.
