Reid supports economic aide for Ukraine

Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) says he backs giving Ukraine economic aid but that the United States should be working with allies to address the crisis there.

"I think Ukraine is in crisis and needs some help. What I'm going to do is recommend that anything we do be done in coordination with our allies. And President Obama has said that he wants to give economic aid, and I think that's appropriate. I'm happy to help in any way," Reid said.

The Senate leader made his comments Monday afternoon in response to reporters' questions at the start of a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. They were joined by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R- Ky.) and Sens. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Carl Levin (D-Mich.), but none of them commented on the crisis.
