Bill Clinton to raise money for Marjorie Margolies, Chelsea Clinton’s mother-in-law

March 12, 2014

Former President Bill Clinton will headline a fundraiser for the congressional campaign of Marjorie Margolies (D), the mother-in-law of daughter Chelsea Clinton, a Clinton spokesman confirmed Wednesday.

Margolies is running for the seat of Rep. Allyson Schwartz (D-Pa.), who is running for governor. Clinton will raise money for Margolies on April 1o.

The Philadelphia Inquirer first reported the news Tuesday.

Margolies served in Congress for one term in the early 1990s. Her tenure was most memorable for a tough vote she took in favor of Clinton's economic plan that is widely believed to have prevented her reelection.

She is the mother of Marc Mezvinsky, the husband of Chelsea Clinton.

The former president also lent his fundraising muscle Tuesday to Seth Magaziner, the Providence Journal reported. Magaziner is a Democratic candidate for state treasurer in Rhode Island with ties to the Clinton family.
