Mark Warner raises $2.7 million during first quarter of 2014

April 9, 2014

Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) raised $2.7 million during the first three months of the year, his campaign announced Wednesday, more than $1 million better than the number he posted in the previous quarter.

Warner ended March with more than $8.8 million in his campaign account.

While Warner is popular and favored to win reelection, he faces a potentially competitive race against former Republican National Committee chairman Ed Gillespie. Gillespie has not released his first quarter totals yet. The Republican got some fundraising help from Mitt Romney in March. Gillespie was a top adviser on Romney's 2012 presidential campaign.
