The Senate Conservatives Fund endorsed state Sen. Joni Ernst (R) for Iowa's open U.S. Senate seat, wading into yet another contested primary.

Ernst is the only woman running in a crowded Republican field which also includes self-funding businessman Mark Jacobs. Ernst is also backed by Sarah Palin and Mitt Romney.

Senate Conservatives Fund has now endorsed seven Republican Senate candidates, including three running against incumbents.

The Republican nominee in Iowa is likely to face Rep. Bruce Braley (D), who has a clear path to his party's nomination. The candidates are running for the seat of retiring Sen. Tom Harkin (D).
