New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) is headed back to Iowa.
The Republican Governors Association chairman is set to host two fundraisers for Gov. Terry Branstad (R), who faces reelection this year. The first fundraiser will be in May; the second will be held this summer. One of them will be in Iowa; the other will be in New Jersey.
The trips were first reported by the Des Moines Register's Jennifer Jacobs and confirmed by Christie advisers.
Christie's trip comes as we continue to await the result of probes into his administration's bridge scandal -- a set of circumstances some have wagered might disqualify him from running for president. Christie himself has said the situation has no bearing on his presidential deliberations.
Christie visited Iowa twice in 2011, helping Mitt Romney's presidential campaign.
He has been raising money for governors across the country in his role at the RGA, so his visit isn't a big surprise. But Branstad is not considered to be among the most vulnerable GOP governors this year.
Correction: This post initially said both fundraisers would be in Iowa. Only one of them will be.
