You're a Democrat running for office this year. Do you want President Obama to come campaign with you?
If you're like most voters, your answer is no. Fifty-seven percent say they would not want Obama to stump for them, according to a Fox News poll. Just 41 percent say yes.
Of Democrats polled (the question asked all voters to imagine they were Democratic candidates), a clear majority (69 percent) say they would want the president to campaign with them. By more than 2-1, independents say no (66-32 percent). Unsurprisingly, 88 percent of Republicans say no.
At this point in the 2010 election cycle, which was huge success for Republicans, there was more appetite for Obama as a campaigner. In July of that year, 48 percent said they would want Obama to stump with them, while 50 percent said they would not.
Majorities of women (59 percent) and men (55 percent) say they would not want Obama to campaign with them now, as do majorities of whites (65 percent) and Hispanics (53 percent). Blacks (84 percent) say overwhelmingly that they would want Obama to stump for them.
