Well, that didn't take long, did it?
Four days after National Review reported on a leaked strategy document from the U.S. Senate campaign of Democrat Michelle Nunn, the fiscally conservative super PAC Ending Spending Action Fund took to the airwaves to attack her.
The 30-second ad singles out some unflattering things the Georgia hopeful's campaign strategists expressed worry about in the document.
"What does Michelle Nunn worry about most?" asks the narrator. "It's not the economy, and it's not you. Nunn's own campaign worries she's, quote, too liberal, a lightweight and not a real Georgian."
The ad also hits Nunn's for her time heading up Points of Light, a nonprofit group that encourages volunteerism. In its document, Nunn's campaign flagged a connection between the organization and a charity linked to group with Hamas ties.
Nunn spokesman Nathan Click said in an e-mail, "This kind of ridiculous attack against the Points of Light Foundation -- an organization that mobilizes millions of volunteers each year -- is exactly what Georgians are ready to change about our political process."
Nunn is running against businessman David Perdue, who is fresh off a July 22 GOP runoff victory over. The two candidates are competing for the seat of retiring Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R) in what's shaping up as a key contest in the battle for the Senate majority.
Nunn has reserved more than $331,000 in TV air time beginning today for her first post-GOP runoff ad. Ending Spending is dishing out $325,000 for air time through next week.
Ending Spending was founded by TD Ameritrade founder Joe Ricketts.
