Coptic Christians are planning a demonstration in Washington Wednesday to protest the recent deadly clashes between Christians and Egyptian military in Cairo.
The rally, organized by a group called Coptic Solidarity, will be held in front of the main gate of the White House from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. A march to Capitol Hill will follow.
Demonstrators are gathering to protest attacks on Coptic Christians in Cairo earlier this month.
According to witnesses, men in civilian clothes attacked Christian demonstrators who were protesting the recent attack on a church in southern Egypt. The attack prompted clashes between protesters and Egyptian security forces, leaving at least 23 people dead and nearly 200 injured.
The demonstration in Washington is expected to proceed rain or shine.
