3rd street tunnel reopens after D.C. police clear suspicious vehicle

The 3rd Street tunnel has completely reopened after D.C. police cleared a suspicious vehicle that blocked the northbound side of the tunnel this morning, reports DDOT.

The northbound side of the 3rd Street tunnel is closed this morning as D.C. police investigate a suspicious vehicle, authorities reported.

About 8:30 a.m. an unattended dump truck was discovered inside the tunnel. Any vehicle left unattended is considered “suspicious,” said a police spokesman.

Northbound lanes are closed to traffic indefinitely until police can clear the truck. Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
