Juvenile struck by a vehicle in Northwest Washington

A child was struck by a vehicle and injured Thursday night on a street in the Takoma neighborhood of the District, D.C. police said.

The accident happened in the 500 block of Cedar Street about 6:30 p.m., where police found a juvenile male conscious and breathing, said Officer Hugh Carew, a spokesman. The victim, whose age was not immediately known, was taken to a hospital but his injuries were not believed to be life threatening, Carew said.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene.
