Montgomery woman hit by arrow out of hospital

A woman hit in the head by an arrow in Montgomery County Tuesday was released from the hospital shortly after the accident, family said.

Family members were horrified by initial reports about the Damascus-area accident, which said the woman had life-threatening injuries. But she was released as family members arrived at the hospital, they said.

Police had said the accident occurred on Moxley Road as people were taking target practice outside a house. They said the woman was struck after an arrow passed through a bale of hay and then ricocheted.

“Everything’s great,” said one relieved family member, who did not want to be identified.

It was a “freak accident,” said another.

“It was the unluckiest day and the luckiest day,” he said.
