Overnight storms cause more power outages in Washington

A few thousand residents in the Washington area are without power Monday morning after severe storms passed through the region overnight.

Northern Virginia was the hardest hit, with Dominion reporting nearly 4,000 without power. But even there, the number of homes and businesses with no electricity is tiny compared to the hundreds of thousands who were in the dark after last week’s derecho.

Reported outages (as of 6:30 a.m.):

BGE: 1,930

Pepco: 1,198

Dominion: 3,785
