Rockville man killed in one-car crash

A 26-year-old man was killed early Saturday morning in a one-car crash near the intersection of Veirs Mill Road and Twinbrook Parkway in Rockville, authorities said.

The man was the front-seat passenger in a 2006 Hyundai Sonata that was traveling westbound on Veirs Mill Road, according to a preliminary investigation by Montgomery County Police. At the intersection with Twinbrook Parkway, the car apparently left the road and struck a tree and road sign in the median.

Police came upon the accident at about 4:15 a.m Saturday. The passenger, identified as Nashon Brian Barnett of the 300 block of Cedar Lane in Rockville, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The car’s driver was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police identified her as Danielle Delores Donaldson, 21, of the 13500 block of Hayworth Drive in Rockville.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call police at 301-840-2435.
