Shooting reported in New Carrollton
A male was fatally shot Tuesday night in New Carrollton, and Prince George’s County police believe the shooting may have taken place on an elementary school basketball court.
A victim was taken to a hospital by a private vehicle after the shooting happened about 8:45 p.m., said Cpl. Larry Johnson, a spokesman. Shortly afterward, police received calls about the sound of gunshots at Carrollton Elementary school in the 8300 block of Quintana Street, Johnson said.
The man was pronounced dead at a hospital about 11 p.m., authorities said.
Officers were trying to find potential witnesses and to locate the precise location where the shooting occurred, Johnson said. They had no immediate information about the victim’s age.
