Southeast car crash kills 3

Three people riding in a car in Southeast D.C. were killed in an early Saturday morning when the driver lost control and the car overturned and eventually struck two trees.

Police did not released the identities of the people who were killed. A fourth person in the car was transported to a local hospital and is in critical condition, according to authorities.

District police said that shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday, the driver was speeding along the 1300 block of Mississippi Avenue SE in a 2007 Mitsubishi Galant and lost control after passing over a speed bump. Three people in the car were ejected from their seats as the car slid into nearby Oxon Run Park and overturned, police said. The car eventually struck two trees.

One male passenger was declared dead on the scene, and the female driver and another male passenger died at local hospitals, according to authorities. A female passenger was transported to a local hospital and is in critical condition, according to authorities.
