Toddler in critical condition after fall

A 2-year-old child was critically injured Friday in a plunge from an upper-story window in a building in Souheast Washington, authorities said.

The child, a boy, according to preliminary accounts, was in a building in the 800 block of Southern Avenue. in the Washington Highlands area.

Few details were immediately available, but authorities said the fall appeared to be from the 6th floor or above. .
