Water main break affects Md. school, customers

Authorities say an elementary school in Fort Washington is without water on the first day of school following a water main break.

Kimberly Knox, a spokeswoman for the Washington Suburban Sanitation Commission, says the 10-inch break was reported about 5 a.m. Monday in the 2600 block of Brinkley Road in Temple Hills. It is affecting water service to about 100 customers, including J. Frank Dent Elementary School.

A school official said a contingency plan is in place for students to use the bathroom and get water and the school will remain open.
