Woman found dead after Columbia Heights fire

A woman was found dead in an apartment in Columbia Heights after a fire apparently broke out there.

Authorities said the woman was found suffering from burns after smoke was found in an apartment house in the 1300 block of Columbia Road NW.

Authorities said the woman was found with second and third degree burns. A small amount of fire damage was also found.

The incident was under investigation, authorities said.
