Boys’ basketball: Who should be No. 1?

DeMatha, the area’s top-ranked team, lost twice this past week, meaning there will be a new No. 1 team when The Post Top 20 is posted on Monday. No. 2 Montrose Christian and No. 3 Gonzaga, which topped the Stags Saturday night, can both make strong cases for the top spot.

Cast your vote here for who you think should be No. 1 and make your argument in the comment section below. We’ll reveal our decision on AllMetSports.com on Monday evening and in Tuesday’s newspaper.

The case for No. 2 Montrose Christian

Record: 13-1 Average margin of victory: 31.1

*Only loss came to Marcus Flower Mound (Tex.), 42-40, on the road on Dec. 15. Marcus is ranked No. 8 in ESPN’s Powerade Fab 50 and No. 13 in USA Today's Super 25.

Last week’s national ranking: 5 (ESPN); 13 (USA Today)

Wins vs. nationally ranked teams: Westbury Christian (Tex.), ranked No. 33 by ESPN; Orlando Christian (Fla.), ranked No. 44 by ESPN

* Has been ranked either No. 1 or No. 2 locally throughout the season

* Is 6-0 vs. local competition; three of those games came against teams with a .500 record or better (Hayfield, Friendship Collegiate, T.C. Williams)

The case for No. 3 Gonzaga
