Montrose Christian senior forward Ishmail Wainright orally committed to Baylor on Thursday night, according to Montrose Coach Stu Vetter.
Rated a four-star prospect by Rivals.com and the No. 26 recruit in the nation in the Class of 2013 by ESPN.com, Wainright held scholarship offers from a host of nationally prominent programs, such as Duke, Kansas, Syracuse, UCLA and Florida.
Vetter – who called Wainright the most heralded recruit to come out of the Montrose program since Kevin Durant – said Wainright has cancelled previously scheduled recruiting visits to Texas and St. John’s. Wainright visited Ohio State earlier this month.
Wainright, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound Kansas City, Mo. native, is recovering from a stress fracture in his left foot that forced him to sit out much of the summer. He is the second member of Baylor’s 2013 recruiting class.
