The 247Sports.com Web site devoted to coverage of South Carolina athletics, known as The Big Spur, reported last week following Carrera’s official visit to the school that the player planned to sign with the Gamecocks today. In a telephone interview, Vetter said that was not the case.
Vetter said Carrera, Montrose’s first two-time All-Met, has narrowed his college choices to South Carolina, Pittsburgh and Memphis. Carrera may visit Pittsburgh and Memphis, though he has not yet made plans to do so, Vetter said.
A 6-foot-6 power forward, Carrera averaged 13.2 points and 12.2 rebounds per game as a senior while helping guide Montrose to a 21-3 record.
