Riverdale Baptist girls finish No. 1 in The Post Top 20

The Post’s final Top 20 rankings are out and the Riverdale Baptist girls finish on top for the third straight year. The Crusaders (30-4) lost to only one local team — No. 5 Spalding in December — and handily beat No. 2 St. John’s, the City Title champion, in a head-to-head meeting on Feb. 10, 79-55.

There were other strong candidates for the top spot, aside from Riverdale and St. John’s (33-2). No. 3 Gaithersburg (25-0) is the area’s only undefeated girls’ team and won the Maryland 4A title in convincing fashion. Spalding (28-4) won 20 straight games, including the IAAM A final, before losing to No. 4 Good Counsel and No. 6 Holy Cross by a combined four points.

Our full Top 20 is after the jump. You can check out our final coaches’ rankings here.
