Stone Bridge’s Jonathan Allen named the Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year

Stone Bridge senior defensive lineman Jonathan Allen has been named the Gatorade Virginia Football Player of the Year. In leading the Bulldogs (13-0) to this Saturday’s Virginia AAA Division 5 semifinal against Hanover, Allen has racked up 103 tackles, nine sacks, eight pass deflections, six fumble recoveries and six blocked kicks.

The two-time All-Met and Alabama recruit is the second straight player from Ashburn to earn the award, following in the footsteps of 2011 winner Alex Carter from Briar Woods.

Allen, who measures in at 6-foot-3, 263-pounds, has also been selected to play in the 2013 U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Jan. 5 in San Antonio.
