Three area girls’ basketball players were selected Thursday as Gatorade players of the year – St. John’s guard Lindsay Allen for the District, Forest Park guard Breyana Mason for Virginia and Good Counsel forward Amanda Fioravanti for Maryland. All are seniors.

Mason and Fioravanti are both Virginia signees. Allen, a McDonald’s All-American, has signed with Notre Dame.

Allen this season led No. 1 St. John’s to the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference title by averaging 16 points, 8.0 assists, 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals. She also shot 82 percent from the foul line.

Mason broke the career Prince William County scoring record previously set by former Forest Park all-American Monica Wright. Mason this season averaged 26.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 2.9 steals.

Fioravanti averaged 19.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.6 blocks, 1.5 steals and 1.3 assists for Good Counsel, the WCAC runner-up.
