Never mind all those Rust Belt clichés — downtown Peoria is looking pretty darn good in Rep. Aaron Schock’s new video message to constituents, all shiny storefronts and latte-toting yuppies.
Oh wait, never mind! The business district where the rising-star Republican stands, as he urges folks to “support our local economy . . . here in central Illinois” is actually a stretch of Pennsylvania Avenue SE, albeit shot from an angle with no obvious monuments in view. His spokesman told City Paper the congressman was simply pitching in to promote his hometown’s upcoming Small Business Saturday: “By no means was there any attempt to misrepresent his location.”
