Ann Romney cheered from the VIP stand as her dressage horse, Rafalca, and rider, Jan Ebeling, competed in the Olympics Thursday. The 15-year-old mare (who has been spooked by large crowds in the past) appeared relaxed and put on one of her best-ever performances during the team dressage competition. “She was consistent and elegant,” Romney told The Associated Press. “She did not disappoint. She thrilled me to death.” With half the field left to perform on Friday, Rafalca was ranked 13th: Not enough to win an individual medal or compete in the freestyle event (aka horses prancing to music) next week — but the Americans are still holding out hope for a team medal.
