Anthony Weiner puts on a happy face in People magazine; is this a comeback move?

He’s back! After a year of lying low, Anthony Weiner is speaking up about his weird, weird fall from grace via a People interview and photo shoot — the kind where everyone wears white shirts and smiles beatifically in sun-drenched rooms.

Revelations: They’re still married! “Anthony has spent every day since then trying to be the best dad and husband he can be,” his wife Huma Abedin, a top aide to Hillary Clinton.

Also: The ex-congressman got counseling for whatever drove him to text lewd photos to strange women, but no details on what kind. Other than “some paid consulting” work, Weiner seems to be the happy stay-at-home dad for seven-month-old Jordan. And he’s still self-deprecating about his name (“You wonder if my name was Mitchell whether the scandal would have been as bad.”)

The whole thing looks like a comeback move, but Weiner sticks with safe non-denial denials about buzz he could run for mayor of New York: “I’m not doing anything to plan a campaign. . . The only next dramatic steps I’m planning on are Jordan’s first.”
