Barney Frank and Jim Ready — only about 100 folks at their pal Chris Downey’s home in Cleveland Park, which counts as an intimate gathering by congerssional standards. Among the guests: Vicki Kennedy, John Kerrey, Steny Hoyer, Debbie Dingell, Tim Geithner. (Any Republicans? If there were, they were very quiet.) Frank, we’re told, explained to the guests what they all had in common: Everybody on his list, he said, had been “nice to Jim from the beginning.”
