Bristol Palin explains new face: jaw surgery not cosmetic

(Updated: Oral surgeon weighs in on Bristol Palin’s “jaw” surgery)

Did she or didn't she? For a week, gossips have been closely scrutinizing recent photos of a streamlined Bristol Palin: Did she simply lose weight, or get a something little extra done to the face? On Wednesday she acknowledged to US Weekly that yes, she had work done on her jaw. But "it's not plastic surgery," she maintains.

She was just following doctor’s orders, really. Palin explains that back in December 2010 (i.e. after you saw her in “Dancing With the Stars”), she had a corrective jaw surgery. "It improved the way I look, but this surgery was necessary for medical reasons...so my jaw and teeth could properly realign...I don't obsess over my face," she explains.

Not that she’s unhappy with the effect. "I am absolutely thrilled with the results," she gushes. "I look older, more mature, and don't have as much of a chubby little baby face!"
