Pretty much every day, Hollywood sends a moonlighting wonk to reinforce the ranks of D.C.’s policy people. Tuesday’s ringer: Jessica Alba

Cause The “Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families Coalition.”

Venue: U.S. Capitol conference room.

Credentials: Pin-up, nerdfare starlet (“Sin City”, “Fantastic Four”), mom now expecting her second child.

Wingmen: Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.), various medical advocates.

What she wants: Tighter regulations on the chemicals used in baby bottles, toys, home cleaning products.

How she looked: Radiant, of course, reports our colleague Aaron Leitko. White top, cream blazer, high-waisted skirt that de-emphasized the baby bump.

Soundbite:“You can’t hire a team of scientists to do your shopping for you. . . I mean, I barely have time to brush my teeth with a toddler and another one on the way. At some point the government has to step in and ensure that chemicals are safe before our children are exposed to them.”
