David Cross claims he did coke in front of president — and room full of journalists

David Cross is getting a lot of mileage this week out of his claim that he did cocaine at the White House Correspondents Association dinner.

Just several yards away from where President Obama was sitting at the Washington Hilton, the comedian told Playboy, he ducked under the table and snorted “a tiny granule.” He didn’t actually get high, he claims: “The jolt was similar to licking an empty espresso cup,” and he only did it to be “able to say that I did it. I’m not proud of it, nor am I ashamed of it.”

True? Two thoughts: Stars are sometimes under pressure to to deliver a good story when being interviewed. And — hello, room full of journalists, did no one see this? Email us at reliablesource@washpost.com. Our research indicates he and girlfriend Amber Tamblyn were the celebrity guests of USA Today that night in 2009. No official response from the paper yet.
