• Oprah Winfrey lunching with Gayle King and several others at District Commons in Foggy Bottom Thursday. No word on what brought the talk-show queen and her CBS News anchor best pal to town, but we’re told they shared the meal with some O magazine staffers. Oprah, resplendent in a beige pantsuit, took photos with some of the fans who had gathered by the side exit as she left.

• Krist Novoselic hanging out at Churchkey Wednesday night. The Nirvana co-founder, at the Logan Circle bar with a few friends, was recognized by a number of fans and cheerfully chatted with those who approached. Was in town for lobbying work on the Hill and at the White House — the bassist is chair of FairVote, is advocating for propotional representation and multi-member congressional districts; he showed up Thursday at a panel discussion on preferential voting at the Australian Embassy.
