Mos Def touring the National Portrait Gallery Tuesday afternoon. The hip-hop star/actor — in town for his Monday night sold-out show at the 9:30 Club — and a companion lingered in the Recent Acquisitions gallery and the Asian-American portraits exhibit before telling a staff member they were headed over to the National Gallery to see the Picasso drawings. The artist currently calling himself Yasiin Bey (sorry, we keep forgetting!) wore a gray wool overcoat.

Laura Bush stopping by the French Apartment, a Georgetown antiques store, on Wednesday afternoon. The former first lady, in town for the National Museum of African American History and Culture groundbreaking, browsed but didn’t buy; she and a female friend strolled out onto Wisconsin Avenue with the usual discreet posse of Secret Service trailing.
