Hey, isn’t that...?: Obama and Merkel at 1789

The world leaders depart 1789 on Monday night. (Larry Downing/Reuters)
President Obama dining at 1789 with German Chancellor Angela Merkel Monday night — a quieter little get-together in advance of tonight’s state dinner. They arrived at the Georgetown landmark around 7:20 p.m. and were seated in its Wickets room. Summer salad, beet salad and beef tenderloin for both of them. Crowds had gathered by the time they left at 9:15 to cheer their departure.
