In other news. . . : ‘Inhaled’ poster yanked at National Press Club

The offending poster, promoting an art show by photographer Tom Gundelfinger O'Neal, at the National Press Club. (Tom Gundelfinger O'Neal)

Did the National Press Club “censor” a poster with a coy drug reference? So claims Rick Pullen, a sponsor of the current NPC exhibit of the work of ’60s rock photographer Tom Gundelfinger O’Neal. Pullen told us that club officials quickly removed a poster for the art show reading “I was there, I remember, I inhaled,” in large type, after the Wednesday night opening reception. (The show continues for another month.) But club president Theresa Werner said organizers never submitted the poster for the club’s review. “They didn’t follow the rules,” she said, adding “we put things up and take them down all the time.”
