• Police said Monday that Whitney Houston was found underwater and apparently unconscious in her hotel bathtub before she was pronounced dead on Saturday, reports AP. No sign of trauma or foul play, and authorities say it could be weeks before toxicology tests determine a cause of death. Her family is planning a funeral and wake in her hometown of Newark, sources told AP. . . Meanwhile, our search continues for the videotape from Houston’s memorable cusp-of-stardom performance at a D.C. gala. Readers who saw the videographer’s recollection of the event in Monday’s column helped us narrow the time frame to the November 1985 “Food for Christmas Ball.” Maybe an organizer has it tucked away in a closet somewhere?
