Ayla Brown, the 23-year-old daughter of Sen. Scott Brown, received $9,500 to sing at three of his campaign events during the past year, according to campaign finance reports. Sure, the budding singer/songwriter — a former “American Idol” contestant who sings the national anthem at Philadelphia 76ers games — could have volunteered her services. But the senator’s campaign said they paid Ambient Entertainment (Ayla’s rep) and her backup musicians fair market value to avoid asking her bandmates to volunteer at a political event, reports the Boston Globe.
