Newt and Callista Gingrich were widely criticized for interrupting his foundering presidential campaign with a two-week luxury cruise in June. But they have fans among fellow cruisers on the Seabourn Odyssey trip to Turkey and Greece: “A nice couple. . . No entourage — no asking for special favours from the ship or the staff — and the staff being European, really didn’t seem to care who they were,” according to Friday’s posting on CruiseMates blog, which reports that the two ate dinner by themselves, went on an ouzo tasting and other tours, and chatted with fellow shipmates. “We teased Newt about texting on his Blackberry — I said to him I was envious that his large fingers could go so fast on the keyboard. Callista said he was writing a big speech.” The really big star on the ship? Sixties supermodel Twiggy, who’s the Odyssey’s “godmother.”
