• You know, it’s not all politicians and pundits around here. At the National Symphony Orchestra’s gala Sunday, the VIP spotlight shone on the business establishment that makes up Washington’s other power base — and a longer-lasting one at that. The NSO honored 11 civic leaders who have served on its board for 35 years or more, including Mandy Ourisman, Bitsey Folger, Leonard and Elaine Silverstein, Austin Kiplinger, Albert Small, Mary Munroe, Noel Levine, Norman Bernstein, Virginia Cretella Mars — and June Hechinger, whose tenure on the board predates the Kennedy administration.
