• The hat that launched a thousand jokes — the gravity-defying curled fascinator worn by Princess Beatrice at the royal wedding — fetched $131,341 from the top bidder when the eBay auction ended Sunday. The Philip Treacy silk hat, described as a "unique sculptural celebratory headpiece," sold to an anonymous, pre-approved bidder; the proceeds will go to two children's charities. "I've been amazed by the amount of attention the hat has attracted," the princess said on the listing. "I hope whoever wins the auction has as much fun with the hat as I have."
