Tough weekend for Serbian tennis whiz Bojana Jovanovski: On Saturday, the 19-year-old got knocked out of D.C.’s Citi Open. Undeterred, she booked a Sunday flight from Washington to Carlsbad, N.M., for the Mercury Insurance Open. Only trouble. . . the tournament was in Carlsbad, California, some 983 miles away. “One man asked me at the airport, ‘What are you doing here? Are you playing tennis?’” Jovanovski told the LA Times. “I said, ‘Yeah, it’s a tennis tournament.’ And he said, ‘Here?’” Jovanovski made it to California with just 30 minutes to spare before her first-round match — which she lost.
