Shia LaBeouf dropped out of the play that was to be his Broadway debut Wednesday, reports AP — and before anyone could say “creative differences,” promptly went on an passive-aggressive Twitter tear airing private emails from his “Orphans” director as well as co-stars Alec Baldwin and Tom Sturridge. Saying what great guy/marvelous actor he is, of course. You can look them up yourself; nothing very interesting but a vague hint the 26-year-old “Transformers” star may have clashed with Baldwin. Also some soppy proclamations like, “Acting is not for gentlemen, or bureaucratic-academics. What they do is anti-art.” If you say so. Also posted his audition tape. And kind words for his replacement, Ben Foster.

• L.A. police responded to what appeared to be a hostage situation Tuesday at the home of Metta World Peace — only to find it was actually actors who had just filmed a scene with fake guns, reports the L.A. Times. The eccentric Lakers star, who greeted cops in his Cookie Monster pajamas, was also surprised, though the actors were with his own sideline production company, including his nephew. “They didn’t understand that after you do the scene, you put the stuff away,” he told the Times.
