(Dave Hogan/Getty Images) • It’s official: Prince William and Kate Middleton have a new puppy, palace officials confirmed to NBC Tuesday. The young royals bucked Windsor family tradition by opting for cocker spaniel rather than a corgi. However, despite a recent overhaul in monarchical succession rules (in the future, elder daughters will precede their brothers), scholars say the dog is not currently in line for the throne.
